Components of the Honors Program
The College of Letters and Science Program provides enrichment
opportunities for UCSB's most motivated undergraduates. Students can enrich
their academic experience while receiving honors credit for work done in
honors courses, through honors sections or contracts, or in extracurricular
service opportunities like volunteer work or internships.

When I came to UCSB my freshman year, I had been admitted into the College Honors Program but I did not take any honors courses or participate in any honors program activities. The honors program sounded appealing, yet I figured that college was difficult enough and this extra commitment was not something that I wanted.

It's hard to believe that seventeen years have passed since my undergraduate research experience at UCSB last appeared in a College of Letters and Science publication. Back then I was a senior majoring in aquatic sciences and had returned from my very first oceanographic cruise.
