Freshman SeminarsIf you are a first-year student at UCSB and you'd like the kind of small-class experience normally associated with upper-division or graduate work, try a freshman seminar. These informal seminars, where students often sit down with their professors around a table over a cup of coffee, break down the barriers students sometimes feel when they first arrive on campus. Read what students who have taken them say, below, and then log onto the freshman seminar site http://www.freshsem.ucsb.edu for more information. What the students say . . .The professors were ready and willing to help and answer any questions students had. They were so passionate about their subjects. It really impressed me. Freshman seminars provide a nice break from large classes and also from more theoretical ones. The topics in my seminar were modern and applicable to my own life. |
