ScholarshipsThe UCSB Emeriti Association announces an annual competition to recognize outstanding scholarship by undergraduate students. Undergraduates at the junior or senior level are invited to submit a recent scholarly project on a subject in any of the following disciplines: arts and humanities, social sciences, sciences, or engineering. A $500 prize will be awarded for the winning project. Entries will be judged on the basis of originality of the work and skill and clarity of presentation. Submissions, accompanied by a letter of support from the sponsoring professor, are due at the Emeriti Center, 3101 Student Affairs and Administrative Services Building, Friday, June 3, 2005. A panel of UCSB Emeriti faculty will review the submissions. Announcement of the winner will be made at the fall luncheon meeting of the Emeriti Association. Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships. Local Rotary Clubs sponsor awards for study in another country where Rotary Clubs are located. Applicants must be fluent in the language of the country. During the study period, scholars are expected to serve as ambassadors of goodwill and to return to share their experiences. Rhodes Scholarships are available to U.S. citizens between the ages of 18 and 24 to support two years of study at Oxford. British Marshall Scholarships. $24,000 scholarships for outstanding Americans pursuing undergraduate or graduate studies in the humanities, social sciences, sciences, or business fields for full-time students at a British university. Governor's Opportunity Scholarship. Scholarships are awarded to California women students based on academic achievements, contribution to the community, and the challenges they have overcome to reach their goals. Scholarships for graduate-level studies at participating institutions of higher learning in Ireland. he scholarship provides tuition, housing, a stipend, and international travel.
