College Honors Program Study Center Proctors for 2008-2009

It is time to hire Honors Study Center proctors for the 2008-2009 academic year. The Honors Study Center is located in North Hall 1115 and this year is open M-R 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and F 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Next year's hours are likely to be very similar. Proctors are responsible for monitoring the study center and making sure that it is kept quiet, clean, and well-organized. Proctors are expected to attend two scheduling meetings per quarter led by the Student Honors Coordinators, one early in the quarter to establish regular shifts, and another toward the end of the quarter to schedule extended hours for dead week and finals. Proctors are paid on a monthly basis; the current wage is $8.00 per hour. The time commitment is typically about 6-8 hours per week.

Shannon Barnard, UCSB Honors Center Proctor.

We accept applications from all members of the Honors Program who will be in their 3rd or 4th year at UCSB as of fall 2008. Strong consideration will be given to those students who have completed honors courses and participated in honors program activities as we hope that proctors will be a resource for students. We will be hiring seven or eight proctors with the expectation that they will work for the entire academic year. If you are interested in this part-time position, please pick up an application at the College of Letters and Science Office, Cheadle Hall 1117; at the study center, North Hall 1115; or download a copy from the Honors website at http://www.honors.ltsc.ucsb.edu/. All applications must be submitted by Friday, April 25 at 4 p.m. in the College office. We will likely hold short interviews in early May, and notify students selected as proctors by finals week. If you have any questions, please contact Dustin May (shcblue@LTSC.ucsb.edu) or Jaimie Thomas (shcgold@ltsc.ucsb.edu), Student Honors Coordinators.
