The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Keio University 2008 Summer School Program at the University of Washington
The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) is a consortium of 36 leading research universities in the Pacific Rim. APRU aims to foster education, research and enterprise, thereby contributing to the economic, scientific and cultural advancement in the Pacific Rim. APRU aims to promote scientific, educational and cultural collaboration among Pacific Rim economies. In both its objectives and guiding principles, APRU embodies a commitment to global academic and research standards. UC Santa Barbara is one of the 36 research universities in the consortium. Keio University would like to welcome 5 students from the member universities to further promote student mobility among APRU universities. Summer School Program for Keio University students at the University of Washington (UW) has been created through collaboration between the UW Program on the Environment (PoE) and International Outreach Programs (IOP). It is an intensive three-week program based on a recurrent theme of The Human Systems in the Pacific Northwest Bioregion and is designed to introduce undergraduate and graduate students from a wide range of academic and professional interests to issues and challenges encountered in an urban area with plentiful natural resources. The registration fee for this program is 400,000 to 450,000 yen and covers program tuition as well as housing and meals (breakfast and lunch daily, except weekends) and a short field trip.
