Minimum Cumulative Progress (MCP) Requirement
The new Minimum Cumulative Progress (MCP) Requirement was approved in June by the UCSB Academic Senate and will take effect in Fall 2008. MCP will require that the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Studies reviews each student’s academic progress every second quarter. The first time a student falls below cumulative unit requirements, they will be warned and advised to seek academic counseling. Students who remain below the cumulative unit requirement at the next review will be subject to possible dismissal. This policy is being implemented following a recent study by the Faculty Legislature that claims UCSB students take the smallest average courseload systemwide and are therefore depriving the university of an additional $10 million from the UC Office of the President.
