On-Going Community Affairs Board ProjectsBreakfast Club What: Volunteers are needed to help give breakfast to the homeless. More
importantly than providing food, we will be offering our time and
companionship. This is done in hopes of connecting our volunteers with the
homeless community through a friendly smile and giving heart. Family Literacy Program What: Tutoring program for elementary school children. Volunteers are
paired up with a child in the local community and they read with that child
once per week. Boys and Girls Club What: Tutor, read to kids, and play sports with them for the after-school
program at the Boys and Girls Club downtown. DAWG What: Complete the orientation session and then volunteer to walk/play with
dogs and clean kennels. ASAP What: Volunteers will help take care of cats-feeding, cleaning, and playing. BUNS What: Volunteers' duties include changing the bunnies’ water, giving
pellets, washing and distributing vegetables, helping with grooming,
putting bunnies out to exercise, cleaning litter pans, trays and bunny cages. Arts for Humanity What: this outreach organization celebrates humanity through the arts with
programs that cultivated creativity and empower people with developmental
disabilities, at-risk youth, the elderly and others in partnership with
local artists and the Santa Barbara community. No experience in the arts is
necessary to volunteer. Reading Through Recycling Program What: Volunteers are needed to deliver recycle books to prisons on their
way home. The Substance Abuse Facility imprisons
specifically the mentally ill and developmentally disabled. Volunteers are
also needed 8 hours a week everyday but Sunday to sort through recycled
books. |
